David Jimenez
Photography has been Mr. David P. Jimenez’s great interest since he was attending Los Angeles
Polytechnic High School. He took part in the production of the school yearbook and newspaper.
He was a photojournalist concentrating on sporting events.
After high school, Mr. Jimenez
enrolled at Los Angeles Trade Tech College majoring in photography. Soon after, he was drafted
into the United States Army serving in Infantry Unit. He continued developing his photography
skills while in the army; he photographed training sessions and parades.
After his experiences in the Army, he worked at a photo lab for four years. On weekends, he
concentrated on photographing weddings and sporting events. I, 1968, Mr. Jimenez opened up his
own business in Chatsworth, California, doing photographic work for the printed circuit board
industry. After a successful 33 years in the business, he retired in September 2002. For the
past ten years, Mr.
Jimenez has been photographing annual community events in the San Fernando
Valley. Some of these events include: The Cesar Chavez March, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the
Dead), La Voz del Mariachi and the City of San Fernando Holiday Heritage Parade. Additionally,
he photographs events sponsored be Comision Femenil San Fernando Valley, such as: Celebration of the Books and Adelante Mujer Latina Career Conference. Most recently, he has been volunteering hos photographical skills for MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity).
Mr. Jimenez and his wife, Martha, reside in Granada Hills. They enjoy traveling, and taking
pictures of many people, cultural and historical sites around the world.
