Cynthia Alarcon
In her early 20’s, Cynthia Alarcon became interested in photography; she wanted to capture
images of her niece. Eventually, she obtained a state of the art camera and took classes at Los
Angeles Mission College. Cynthia started exhibiting her photography about 10 years ago at
festivals, after having coordinated several art festivals.
She has exhibited her work at the
California State Capitol, the California Contemporary Arts Festivals, and Universal City Walk
for Cinco de Mayo. Her exhibit of “Long Journey Home”, which portrays a photo study of four
Japanese Americans from the San Fernando Valley who were interned during World War II, is
funded by the California Council for the Humanities and is part of the member of the San
Fernando Valley Latino Arts Council, as Muertos Festivals. Currently she is serving as a City
of San Fernando Cultural Arts Commissioner.
